Thinking of purchasing your first hut? Unable to connect to your services and need an off-grid option? We are here to make to the process as easy as possible for you.
So depending on your requirements we can adjust to your needs, whether you have a connection, no connection or most of the connections, we can help. So let’s start with the bathroom, of course we have our on-grid option which can be still be used even if you don’t have a mains set up, this is simply by purchasing a large septic tank to position under the hut, this can then be emptied 1 – 2 times a year dependent on the use, this is the most user friendly and easy option.
Other options include a composting toilet or a cassette toilet, with the composting toilet we make these in house ourselves and they have a filter, this filters the solids and liquids into a separate tank, the liquid tank can be discarded in any cess pit, sewer drainage etc. whilst the solids descend into a separate tank which is lined with biodegradable liners, any solids will need covering in shavings in order to keep the odour away. The solids can be tied up and thrown on the compost heap to decompose.
Onto the cassette toilet, this is standard in caravans and campervans, this collects all the waste in a small tank within the hut, this can then be emptied in a cess pit or sewer drains. So this explains how your toilet set up can work off-grid, we typically use electric water heaters in the shower and for the basins, however if you cannot get electric we can install gas boiler systems to heat the water.
Other issues people come across include getting electric to their hut, so we came up with a solution, solar, we can either install solar to the roof in curved panels therefore out of site or we can have fixed panels on a stand therefore movable for the best amount of sunlight. The solar only provides a certain amount of power to the hut therefore wouldn’t be an ideal solution if you could use electric instead.
Another common issue would be water getting to the hut, there are a few ways to work around this, whether this be a simple hose pipe connection, or whether this be a large potable water can that is pumped into a hut via a pumping system.
